At 10am on Dec 12, a truck carrying industrial manufacturing equipment produced by an enterprise in the free trade zone in SIP departed from the Suzhou Freight Station of Shanghai Airports, heading toward Shanghai Pudong International Airport, where the cargoes will be transported to the United States and Austria.

This marked the freight station’s first case of cargo transportation through
fully automatic customs supervision. The freight station formally came into
service in the comprehensive bonded area in SIP in April as the first
trans-provincial, cross-customs-district air freight station in the country. It
provides a set of services for cargoes from SIP and the surrounding areas to go
through security and customs inspections before being exported through airports
in Shanghai.

The automatic system makes customs supervision available all the time. It helps maintain the delivery duration from the freight station to Shanghai Pudong International Airport at around 12 hours, which was previously only attainable under optimal conditions. This represents a time saving of over 60% in transportation.
